Fungus among Us at Sanborn Park

Join the Youth Science Institute for a guided tour of Fungus Among Us at Sanborn Park. This hands-on outdoor exploration invites participants to slow down, observe closely, and discover the hidden fungi that thrive in our local forest ecosystems. During this program, we’ll hike along shaded trails and search along trails for any sprouted mushrooms, and other fungi species. Along the way, YSI educators will share fun and fascinating facts about fungi, how to ID certain kinds, and whether they're edible or poisonous. This program emphasizes respectful observation—we look gently and leave habitats exactly as we find them to help protect the ecosystem of Sanborn Park.
